Kozikowski, Elizabeth

Elizabeth Dell (Pilon) Peck-Kozikowski, 85, passed peacefully into eternal rest Wednesday, July 6th, 2011. Born Elizabeth Dell Pilon in Unionville on July 10, 1925 she was the daughter of the late Bernice (Russ) and Archibald Pilon. She attended Farmington schools before finishing three years at Northfield Mount Herman School in East Northfield, MA graduating class of 1943. In 1944 she married her childhood sweetheart, Allen C. Peck. Allen predeceased her in 1986. Throughout her adult life Bette (as she was best known) was involved in volunteering while pursuing her career in the insurance industry. She loved sewing, gardening, and crafting. Upon retiring from CIGNA in 1985 she began volunteering at the Tunxis Senior Center of Farmington/Unionville, serving as Secretary for 8 years and head of Ways and Means Committee and was a lifetime member after many years of service. In addition, she was a member of AARP and Whigville Grange. In 1992 she met and married Louis Kozikowski. Bette and Louis enjoyed their retirement years cruising to Alaska, Bermuda, Hawaii, the Caribbean and the Panama Canal as well as touring the East Coast. They enjoyed trips to the local casinos and volunteered at the Farmington Senior Center, Registrar of Voters and the former Greater Hartford Open. They also sang for many years with the Bristol Choral Society. She so enjoyed summers at their cottage on West Hill Lake where they would visit with friends and play cards. Besides her husband Louis, she leaves her daughter, Lynne (Peck) Cerreta and son-in-law, Donald Cerreta of Bristol, and three loving nieces, Debbie Trudel, Dorothy Messick and Bette Rasmussen. Friends may call at The Ahern Funeral Home, 111 Main St., Rt. 4, Unionville on Friday (July 8) from 5:00-7:00pm. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday (July 9) at 11:00am in the Memorial United Methodist Church of Avon. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Memorial United Methodist Church, 867 West Avon Rd., Avon, CT 06001 or to Bristol Hospital Homecare and Hospice, 222 Main St., Bristol, CT 06010.

Dahle, Doris A.

Doris Mary (Ashley) Dahle, 90, of Westbrook and FT. Myers Beach, FL, passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 6th, 2011 at The Connecticut Hospice in Branford. Doris was born June 2, 1921 in Chippewa Falls, WI, daughter of the late Newman C. and Myrtle (Davis) Ashley and had lived in Unionville prior to moving to Boynton Beach, FL in 1972 and then in 1999 to FT. Myers Beach, FL and Westbrook. In 1995 she was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Phillip J. Dahle. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara D. Peet of Westbrook; two sons and three daughters-in-law, Richard N. and Ann K. Dahle of Unionville, Ronald K. and Jane G. Dahle of Farmington and Barbara R. Dahle of South Windsor, wife of her late son, James P. Dahle; three sisters-in-law, Carol Ashley of Chippewa Falls, WI, Lorraine Cheney of Torrington and Frances T. Dahle of Belchertown, MA; brother-in-law Theodore Litwin of Naples, FL; eight grandchildren, Donald L. and Jeffrey B. Peet, Christopher M. Grandieri, Bryan N., Rian K., Jessica L., Megan A., Patrick J. Dahle; six great-grandchildren, Dylan B., Chelsy L. and Alissa J. Peet, Sooki O., Rori Q., and Charlie Grandieri; and many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her grandson, Michael K. Dahle and her son-in-law, Donald L. Peet. Funeral services and burial will be privately held in Greenwood Cemetery, Avon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Connecticut Hospice, 100 Double Beach Road, Branford, CT 06405. Arrangements are being handled by The Ahern Funeral Homes, Inc.

Brodeur, Gloria

Gloria N. Abalan Dickman Brodeur, reached for God’s hand journeying peacefully, born free, and passed most beautifully from this world at the home of her grand niece, Sherry, surrounded with much love of family and VITAS Hospice on July 4th, 2011. An amazing woman; she lived with pain and illness for many years but kept giving and giving with all she had. She was born October 30th, 1924, daughter of the late George and Hazel (Pierce, Stark) Abalan. She worked for many years at Simmons Shoes in Hartford. She cared for disabled adult women in her home for 6 years. Gloria also cared for everyone and anyone she knew. A loving wife, mother, God, grand and great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Gloria leaves her husband of 50 years, Charles E. Brodeur, step daughter, Karen (Merle) Fetig, sister-in-law, Betty Thompson and her family, her two sisters, Aneysa (Francis) Bristol and Louise (Kenneth) Pollard, sister-in-law, Rinette Abalan, grandchildren; Tami and John Dickman, Kimberly (Todd) and Michael (Pamela) Miller, Tina, Rebecca, and Christopher Fetig, great grandchildren, Chelsea, Damien, Brianna, Jade, Angelo, and Nicholas and many, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was predeceased by her daughter, Linda and her son John, her sister, Virginia, her brothers, Benjamin, Roger, Charlie, Buddy, and Sarge (Robert) and her baby grandson, Dillon. In honoring her wishes, there will be no calling hours. A Memorial Service of celebration of Gloria’s life will be held Saturday (July 16) at 11:00am in Case Cemetery, Case Road, Burlington with her niece, Rev. Barbara officiating.
