Landry, Barbara

Barbara (Therreault) Landry, daughter of the late Ruth and Theodore Therreault, passed on to her eternal rest, Wednesday, March 6, 2013. She was born in Waterbury Nov. 9, 1945 where she grew up and attended Sacred Heart High school and Post University, graduating with a degree in Business Management. She worked as an administrative assistant at Risdon for many years before starting her own business, Busy Barb’s Same Day Delivery Service. She enjoyed traveling, playing golf and visiting antique shops. She loved taking long rides with her companion Marty in his convertible. She was an avid reader and a sports fan, always rooting for the UCONN Huskie’s Women’s basketball team. She was also a wonderful cook and baker who took great pleasure in gathering friends and family to share in one of her grand holiday meals. Barbara was a kind and loving woman who gave generously to her family and friends. In 2001 she courageously donated one of her kidneys to her best friend Anna, in order to give Anna a second chance at life. Barbara will be greatly missed by her son Howard B. Beaulieu and his wife Dorreen L. (Verdosci) Beaulieu of Thomaston, her granddaughter Jacqueline M. Beaulieu & fiancé Ryan of Torrington and great-grandsons Austin and Tyler. She will also be sadly missed by her loving companion of many years, Marty Varano and his sons Brian & wife Karen, Robert & fiancé Heather, as well as her former husband John Landry and his sons Marc Landry, wife Sheila and children Melissa, Lauren, Dakota & Logan, John Jr., wife Joanne and son Ryan, daughter Jackie and husband Matthew and their children and Barbara’s cousins Judy Gabriele, Yvonne & Eric Emmons and their children. She will also be missed by her best friend Anna Texiera & husband Manny and their children, Marty’s sister, Connie Varano & partner Caroline and all of the many friends and extended family who have known and loved her. It is with great sadness that we all bid a fond farewell to an elegant lady who touched our lives with her generous heart. We love you Barbara. Friends may call at The Ahern Funeral Home, 111 Main St., Rt. 4, Unionville on Tuesday (Mar. 12) from 4:00-7:00pm. My sincere condolences to Marty, Howard, Jacqueline, Anna, and family during this time of sorrow, may you draw consolation and strength from the Holy Bible in order to cope in the days ahead. God’s promise that there will be a resurrection back to life in the future can also bring comfort.–John 5:28, 29

We had the pleasure of knowing Barbara through our dear friend Marty Varano. We enjoyed going to Rock Cat Games and theater shows together. Barbara was such a nice person and we were so very blessed to have known her and enjoyed her company these last several years. We extend our deepest sympathies to her family and to our friend Marty. May you all find peace and comfort in many happy memories.
