Halpin, Jean F.

Jean Flynn Halpin, 87, of Farmington passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 29th, with her family by her side. Jean was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Michael R. Halpin. She was born in New Haven on December 17, 1926, daughter of the late Lawrence and Frances (Kolodzinski) Flynn. Jean graduated from New Haven Teachers College (now SCSU), where she was student body president. On the 50th anniversary of her graduation, she returned to her alma mater as a speaker at the class of 1997 commencement ceremony. Jean lived in West Haven for most of her adult life. She was a fifth grade teacher at Lincoln School, before starting a family and becoming a full time mother. Jean was a longtime communicant at Our Lady of Victory Church in West Haven. She enjoyed genealogy, gardening, watching Downton Abbey and discussing current events with her family and friends. She was a devoted mother and is survived by her two children and their spouses, Howard and Carole Halpin of South Windsor and Donna and Jerry Daly of Farmington. Her four grandchildren were her pride and joy, Gregg and Jillian Daly and Ashley and Kevin Halpin. The family would like to thank Monica Kitka and especially Karolina Olewicz for their many years of care for Jean. Friends may call at The Ahern Funeral Home, 111 Main St., Rt. 4, Unionville on Wednesday (Jan. 1) from 5:00-7:00pm. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated Friday (Jan. 3) at 10:30am in the Church of St. Patrick, 110 Main St., Farmington. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
