Allyn, IrenenIrene A. (Lomnicky) Allyn, 85, of Burlington, passed away peacefully Wednesday, October 15th. Born May 4th, 1929 in Unionville, daughter of the late Joseph P. and Sophia (Kaprusak) Lomnicky. Throughout her business career, Irene was involved with secretarial and bookkeeping work for a number of local businesses. Irene was an avid baker, blueberry muffins were her specialty. She enjoyed her large family, especially around the holidays. She is survived by her two daughters, Joyce Marie McPhee and her husband George S. of Bristol, Judith M. Allyn of Burlington, five grandchildren, four great grandchildren, her two brothers, Robert E. Lomnicky and his wife Linnea B. of Burlington and Donald F. Lomnicky and his wife Alice of Bristol, several nieces and nephews and her dearest friend, Shirley Haiser of New Britain. She was predeceased by her brother Joseph P. Lomnicky Jr., his wife Velda and their son Bradford and her nephew Timothy Lomnicky, his wife Kim and their daughter Kayleigh. Friends may call at The Ahern Funeral Home, 111 Main St., Rt. 4, Unionville on Friday (Oct. 17) from 5:00-8:00pm. Funeral procession from The Ahern Funeral Home will be Saturday (Oct. 18) at 9:15am followed by the Funeral Liturgy in the Church of St. Mary Star of the Sea, Unionville at 10:00am. Burial will be in the family plot at St. Mary Cemetery, Avon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 1463 Highland Ave., Cheshire, CT 06410.

  1. Dear Judy & Joyce, we were very sorry to hear of your mother’s passing. She was such a wonderful lady. Very kind, gentle & always spoke to everyone nicely. I can’t remember a time when she didn’t have a smile on. I know she will be greatly missed, but hold on to the great memories forever.

    Dear Joyce and Judy Iam so sorry of the passing of your mom she was a very nice lady.always had a smile on her face when she saw me at stop and shop and worked worked with her at smith gates in the 80s, she is now a angel up in heaven.
