Ayer, Dorothy F.

Dorothy F. Ayer, 88, of Farmington, passed away peacefully Wednesday, December 2, 2015. Born February 2, 1927 in Hartford, she was the daughter of the late Robert E. and Alice M. (Kellogg) Ayer. Prior to retiring, Dorothy was associated with the Blake Equipment Company and the Peaselee Company. She was a longtime member of St. James Episcopal Church in Farmington, a member of the Farmington Valley Chorale Club and the Frances Richard Club. She was an avid gardener, loved to travel and enjoyed reading and doing crossword puzzles. She is survived by her brother, Robert E. Ayer Jr., and his wife Virginia of Farmington, her nieces and nephews, Robert E. Ayer III and his wife Delia, Richard Ayer and his wife Barbara, Molly Nottage and her husband Robert, Roberta Storey and her husband John and Debbie Bayer and her husband Michael, many great nieces and nephews and many great grand nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Richard Ayer, her nephew, Jack Ayer and her niece Beth Ayer. Friends may call at St. James Episcopal Church, 3 Mountain Road, Farmington on Saturday (Dec. 5) from 9:30-10:30am followed by Funeral Services in the church at 10:30am with Rev. George Roberts officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Farmington. Memorial contributions may be made to the Farmington Land Trust, Inc., 128 Garden Street #C, Farmington, CT 06032.
