Sienko, Angela Mary Elizabeth

Version 2Angela (“Angel”) Mary Elizabeth Sienko, 76, of Unionville, beloved wife of Robert Bruce Sienko, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2015, and walked (how else) into the loving arms of her Lord and God.

Born March 26, 1939 in Brooklyn, New York, she was the daughter of the late William and Rosemary (Bussey) Sheerin. Angela was a receptionist for many years and prior to that was a cosmetician at G. Fox & Company, Westfarms Mall. In both roles, she was asked on several occasions to serve as a model at various events. She was well known as the “Walking Lady of Farmington” after she began walking around town over 30 years ago. In later years, her walking was curtailed due to an accident which also caused the onset of Alzheimer’s. However, as recently as late 2014, she was still walking nearly two miles a day. Besides her husband of over 54 years, Angel is survived by her four children, Elizabeth (Tom), Robert, Paul, and David (Jun); three grandchildren, Mary Kate, Maria Elena, and Brendan; two sisters, Patricia Haslach and Margaret (“Peggy”) Reilly and her brother, William Sheerin (Berenice); a sister-in-law, Susan Sienko; and a brother-in-law, William Sienko. She was predeceased by her parents; her beloved sister Eileen Brett; three brothers-in-law: Frank Haslach, Tim Reilly, and John (“Buddy”) Brett, and a sister-in-law, Judy Sienko. In addition she has 32 nieces and nephews, each of whom were dear to Aunt Angel.

The family would like to convey their sincerest gratitude to the staff at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford (particularly Drs. Hanna and Schneiderman and all the nurses), Apple Rehab in Avon, Hartford HealthCare – Wound Care Center of Bristol and VNA (Southington Branch), and Vitas Hospice Services. Family and friends may call at The Ahern Funeral Home, 111 Main St., Rt. 4, Unionville on Sunday December 6 from 2:00-5:00 pm and again on Monday December 7 at 10:00 am at the Church of St. Mary Star of the Sea, Unionville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated immediately following at the Church. Burial will be private at Calvary Cemetery, Middletown, CT. I am so sorry to hear of the loos of your wife and mother. Aunt Angel was my godmother and I remember she would always send me a check for $5 for my birthday. That was a lot of money for a kid! I want you to know that you all are in my prayers and I hope that you are able to find peace during this difficult time.

Our condolences to Bob & family over the loss of Angela. Both Bob and Angela were faithful, parishioners at St. Mary’s and we exchanged words with them at services. Our deepest sympathy to our friend and neighbor. We have so many fond memories of Angela and all of you. Watching our families grow and our children reaching adulthood were such happy times. Red Coat Lane gatherings and neighborhood parties shared by our families added to our lasting memories. Throughout the 50 years our friendship has endured and our lives have been intertwined. We will miss Angela so much and hope you will be comforted by our prayers and thoughts.
