Asaro, Anthony F.

Anthony F. Asaro Jr. passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday (March 7, 2017). Tiny was born July 5, 1925 in Torrington. In 1941 he lied about his age and enlisted in the Navy serving on the USS Vincennes in the South Pacific until discharged in April 1946. He worked for the Metropolitan District Commission for 28 years and retired in 1985. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and loved clamming. The shell fish population of the Rhode Island salt ponds have grown in great numbers since he gave up his license. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 65 years, Louise, his brother Santo, sisters Josephine Asaro and Marie Delmonte. Tiny is survived by his sister Diane Green of Torrington, daughter Susan Kapros (Asaro) of Bristol, son Tony Asaro and his wife Deb of Canton. He was Papa to granddaughter Amanda Roberto and her husband Stephen of Canton, granddaughter Nerissa Ayers and her husband Jonathan of Goldsboro, NC, grandson Jason Asaro and his wife Jennifer of Canton, grandson Sam Kapros of Bristol, great-grandsons Lucas Roberto and Zachary Ayers, great-granddaughters Mariah Roberto and Hannah Ayers. We would like to thank ComForCare Senior Services and staff, with a special thanks to Joy and the Farmington Valley Visiting Nurse Association Hospice for their loving care and compassion towards Tiny. There will be no calling hours or service as was his wish but the next time you’re in a position to, raise a glass and toast Tiny; he’ll hear you. If so inclined, please consider a donation to the Farmington Valley Visiting Nurse Association Hospice, 8 Old Mill Lane, Simsbury CT, 06070. Their attention to both family and Tiny were outstanding, we cannot thank them enough.
