Vaughn Everett Young, of Canton Center, went to his heavenly home on August 13, 2019 with his wife Sue by his side at Hartford Hospital. Vaughn was born July 21, 1934 son of Frank and Lulu Mae (Nelson) Young and raised in Williamston, Michigan. He graduated from Michigan State University, 1957, with a B.S. in Math. During college years Vaughn played the piano with a 5 piece jazz group. After graduation he worked for Allen-Bradley, industrial control manufacturer, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Boston, MA. While living in the Boston area (Lynnfield) Vaughn was active in Republican town politics and served as chairman of the town’s planning board for several years.
In 1975 Vaughn joined Hartford Electric Supply Company as VP of Sales, and then President of Hartford Systems Corporation, a design and builder of electrical and electronic control systems (subsidiary of HESCO). Vaughn retired from HESCO in 1993. In 1994 he joined Phil Worley, at Worley ACE Hardware, and then Larsen ACE Hardware, retiring a 2nd time in 2014. Vaughn was a member of Avon/Canton Rotary and a longtime member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Avon where he sang in the choir for many years.
Vaughn is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Sue; son David and his wife Lynn and their son Jack; daughter Johanna Ferrone and her husband Bruce and their children Andrew and Charlotte. He is also survived by his sisters Rosa-Lee Young; Joan (Dale) Kreider; Brother Lynn Young; nieces, nephews, cousins, and his life-long friend Larry Mackle. He was predeceased by his parents and sister Millicent Young.
Vaughn was such a kind man! He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. We will miss him; but happy to know he is free of pain and in the loving arms of our heavenly father.
