Emmons, Robert J.

Robert J. Emmons, 83, of Farmington passed away suddenly on Monday, October 7th. He was born on January 13, 1936 in Hartford, the son of the late Joseph Emmons and Edna (Miller) Emmons. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Sally (Grundwalski) Emmons, a daughter Teresa Mongeon and her husband Edward of Unionville, and grandchildren Emily E. Mongeon and Jacob M. Mongeon also of Unionville. In addition, he is survived by his brother, William Emmons of Rancho Santa Fe, California.
Bob retired from Remington Products in 2004. His lengthiest career however was at Waring Products in New Hartford where he worked as a Product Engineer. After his retirement, he went back to work at UTC/Securitas in Farmington where he spent the last 14 years as a Security Guard. Bob was a proud veteran and served in the US Army as well as the National Guard. In July, 1964 Bob earned the distinction of Sharp Shooter.
Bob was full of life and gave it his all right up until his final moments. He was a lover of NASCAR, Country Music and all things relating to golf. He was a fan of Dale Earnhardt, Jr., Willie Nelson and Randy Travis. Bob had the gift of gab, and could tell a story better than anyone we’d ever known. He would talk to anyone and everyone who crossed his path, and always entertain them with his colorful animations and details. In his early days, Bob would frequent the Polka Halls of Chicopee with his buddies to take a few spins across the dance floor. In the past year, you could find him outside puttering around his yard, or catching up on his favorite shows like Let’s Make a Deal, Wheel of Fortune or Antiques Road Show. Bob’s favorite thing, however, was spending time with his loved ones. His last night in this life was spent having a special dinner with his family. We are thankful for this gift of spending his last night together.
Friends may call at The Ahern Funeral Home, 111 Main Street, Rt. 4 in Unionville on Tuesday, October 15th at 10:00 AM. His Celebration Service will follow at 11:00 AM. Please consider dressing in colors, as we give thanks and celebrate Bob’s life.
