Yabrosky, Joel

Joel Yabrosky, 58, devoted husband of Vicki [Tenan] Yabrosky, of 23 years, passed away on November 7, 2019, at Cone Health Center, following a long battle with breathing issues related to silicosis. Born January 11, 1961, in Hartford, CT, he was the son of the late John Yabrosky and Teresa (Tess) [Dublac] Yabrosky. Joel was predeceased by his parents, John and Tess, and his great niece Quinne Morgan Orlowski. Joel graduated from Farmington High School in the Class of 1979. Following high school, he served in the United States Air Force.

When he was younger, Joel worked side by side with his beloved father John, at the family bar and restaurant, The Olde Towne Grille. Joel enjoyed times at the family cottage at Highland Lake, where he loved spending time with family and close friends. Joel was an avid fisherman, which he loved to do with his brothers, wife, children, nieces, and nephews. Joel loved music and could often be found, playing his guitar, singing, and attending concerts. He loved adventure, including long, leisurely rides on his motorcycle. Joel loved big family get-togethers with everyone sharing in song and a good meal. Joel was committed to the Program, having maintained sobriety for 30 years. He was a dedicated and loyal employee of the Heitkamp/Michel’s Corporation until the day he passed.

While he grew up in Unionville, CT and spent much of his adult life there, he moved to Little River, South Carolina, in 2014, to begin a new chapter in life, together with his beloved wife, Vicki. In South Carolina Joel was able to enjoy a bit of the good life, enjoying walks on the beach, fishing trips to Bird Island with close neighbors who have become like family, and naps on the porch with his favorite little buddy, his dog Hunter. Joel was a true giver, helping anyone in need, and expecting nothing in return. He was always up for an adventure, and could always be counted on for a trip to the water park, mini-golf, parasailing, or bumper cars, with his beloved grandchildren Nathan and Mariah. If it was fun, Joel wanted to do it, right in the center of the action. We will truly miss his huge heart, contagious laugh, and fun-loving spirit.

Joel is survived by his loving wife Vicki Yabrosky, their three children: Zak Yabrosky, Carla Cifarelli, and Rebecca Urbano; and his three grandchildren, Mariah Rose Little, Nathan John Santos, and Jackson Parker Leamy. Joel is also survived by his 7 siblings: Kim Droney and husband Richard, John Yabrosky Jr., Amy Yabrosky, Robin Franz and husband Eric, Mary Yabrosky and Christopher Foryan, Seth Yabrosky, Michael Yabrosky and wife Nancy, and brother-in-law Richard Orlowski, along with his beloved nieces and nephews: Adam Orlowski and his wife Anjie, Eric Orlowski and his wife Katherine, Jessie Yabrosky, Luke Yabrosky, Hannah Yabrosky, Thomas Yabrosky, Katie Delgreco, Miranda Orlowski, Elliott Orlowski, and Bennett Orlowski, and his great nephew whom he couldn’t wait to meet, Mason John Yabrosky. He is survived by many cousins and close friends, whom he cherished.
