Scheidel, Paul F., Sr.

Paul F. Scheidel Sr., 71, of Torrington, beloved husband of Dorothy (Molon) Scheidel passed away peacefully at his home Friday, December 27, 2019. Born in Hartford, November 22, 1948 son of the late Francis W. “Nip” and Mildred (Hackbarth) Scheidel. Prior to retiring, Paul was an Auto Technician in the Farmington Valley for over 40 years. He was a long time communicant at the Church of St. Patrick in Collinsville where he had served as an altar boy in his youth. He was a life member of the Burlington Men’s Club. Paul was a decorated combat veteran of the Vietnam War serving as a L/Cpl with the United States Marine Corps. He was the proud recipient of the Purple Heart for wounds received in action, the Vietnam Campaign Medal w/ device, the Vietnam Service Medal with w/olc and the Marine Corps Combat Action Ribbon.
Besides his wife, he leaves his son Paul F. Scheidel Jr. of Torrington, his sister Lorraine S. Ulen and her husband Donald of Clearwater, Florida, his brother Peter F. Scheidel of Sandy Creek, NY and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Paul was predeceased by his two brothers, George J. Scheidel III, and Patrick F. Scheidel.
Friends may call at The Ahern Funeral Home 111 Main Street, Rt. 4, Unionville on Thursday, January 2nd from 3:00 to 7:00 pm. Funeral procession from The Ahern Funeral Home will be Friday, January 3rd at 9:00 am followed by the Mass of Christian Burial in the Church of St. Mary Star of the Sea, Unionville at 10:00 am. Burial with full Marine Corps honors will be at Center Cemetery, Burlington. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Scholarship Fund at the Burlington Men’s Club, 44 Covey Road, Burlington, CT 06013.

    Dorothy and Paul Jr. So sorry to hear of Paul Sr passing. Good man. Only new him for short time but was like a friend from back in the good old days. My deepest condolences to the family. Rob Pollutro.
