Walker, Martha G. Loukides

Martha G. Loukides Walker, 55, of Unionville, beloved wife of Pastor Christopher T. Walker, passed away peacefully Thursday, January 24th, 2019 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born April 3, 1963 in New Haven, she was the daughter of the Michael and Audrey (Weller) Loukides.

Martha was a graduate of Hamden High School (1982), Swarthmore College (1986) and UCONN Graduate School of Social Work (2015). She worked at The John B. Pierce Laboratory, the Consultation Center at Yale, Yale Psychiatric Institute, the Focus Center for Autism in Canton and the Wheeler Family Health and Wellness Center in Hartford. She served on the PTO at Union School and as an Elder at Bethel Christian Church in Bristol for many years. She loved to care for others. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, hiking and canoeing.

Besides her husband, Martha is survived by her three children, Josiah C. Walker, Zion S. Walker and Seraphim J. Walker, her mother, Audrey Loukides, and her four brothers, Michael Loukides, David Loukides, Timothy Loukides and John Loukides.

Friends may call at The Ahern Funeral Home, 111 Main St., Rt. 4, Unionville on Friday (Feb. 8) from 6:00 – 8:00pm. Funeral Services will be held Saturday (Feb. 9) at 11:00am in Bethel Christian Church, 750 Stevens Street, Bristol. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Avon. Memorial gifts supporting Wheeler’s “Basic Needs Fund” are particularly meaningful because urgent needs will be provided to those who have no insurance.

Silansky, Perry Franz

Perry Franz Silansky, 89 years of age, of Farmington, died January 22, 2019 outside his home after an active life of work, family, golf and other outdoor activities. Born May 18, 1929 in Hartford, he was the son of the late Joseph and Anna (Franz) Silansky. The family business included Windsor Radio and TV in Windsor and Hartford, Eastham TV and Radio at Cape Cod, MA and Avon Electronics in Avon which over the years were owned and operated by his father, himself, and pre-deceased brother, Joseph L. Silansky Jr. who was his lifelong business partner. He served in the Air Force Branch with Honorable Discharge in 1952 then married Joan A. Nugent currently of Long Island, NY on May 3rd 1952. Both he and his brother’s families summered together at the family house at Cape Cod on Nauset Light Road just above the ocean and all enjoyed many sun-drenched, summer long, vacations at the beach with fond memories of baseball on the beach, running in the deep sand, swimming, surfing in the storms, and sun bathing.
Perry is survived by his children, Cheryl Silansky of Farmington, Paul Silansky of Cutchogue, Long Island, NY, and Mark Silansky of New Smyrna Beach, FL, his grandchildren through son Paul include Michelle McDonald (husband Tom) of San Antonio, TX, Matthew Silansky (wife Rachel) of Terryville and great-granddaughters Karah and Brianna. He is also survived by nieces Chris Silansky and Mary Francini of Farmington. The family is respecting his wishes for no services or funeral. Burial will be at State Veteran’s Cemetery in Middletown.
