Kathleen was born in, Cahersculliben, County Kerry, Ireland, February 29, 1944 to John and Margaret O’Neill. She moved to the U.S. at the age of 16 where she worked at Saint Francis Hospital. As a young girl in America, she learned to work hard and to take on all opportunities with determination. She went on to meet and marry the love of her life, Jeremiah J. Sullivan on June 25, 1966 spending fifty years together. Most of all she loved her family and instilled in her children strong values that have served them well. She will be dearly missed and forever in their hearts. Kathleen especially loved here role as Nana to Katelyn, Patrick, Kayla, and Liam. She had a vivacious personality and always made them laugh. We ask if you would like to honor Kathleen’s memory, take a close friend or relative out for coffee, lunch, or dinner and SMILE, she will be there. Family and friends were Kathleen’s passion and delight. She had two other passions; caring for children and Asylum Hill Congregational Church. For many years Kathleen worked at AHCC as housekeeper where she formed many friendships over the years. She always seemed to look out after others, known to many children at AHCC as the donut lady, and would put others before herself. It suited her servant heart. She was all about doing what’s right and doing what’s good. Predeceased by her father, John O’Neill; mother, Margaret (Cavanaugh) O’Neill; 3 brothers, Michael, Tom, and Jack; and 3 sisters, Maureen, Mairead, and Philomena. Survived by her adoring children and grandchildren, Ann Marie Sullivan and Katelyn of West Hartford, Patrick and Ada Sullivan and Patrick, Kayla, and Liam of Rocky Hill, Margaret and Tracy Roane of Hartford, and Jeremiah J. A celebration of life service will be held at 10:00am, Saturday, January 4, 2020 at Asylum Hill Congregational Church, 814 Asylum Ave, Hartford, CT.
