Glanovsky, Michael

Michael Paul Glanovsky, 87, of Hartford, formerly of Unionville and Bristol, died Monday (May 31, 2010) peacefully at Avery Heights Retirement Community. He was born in Unionville, December 18 1922, son of the late Sophie (Muszynski) Glanovsky and Michael Paul Glanovsky. He had lived in Unionville all his life before moving to Bristol and then Hartford. Michael attended Oak Hill School for the Blind and worked for many years at the Hartford Element Company. Michael was an active member of the AYH Hostlers enjoying tandem bike riding and hiking with his group. He was an active member of the Avery Heights Men’s Club and enjoyed being on many committees. Michael was an active Red Sox’s & UCONN fan, he enjoyed listening to all the games on WTIC radio. Michael also listened daily to CRIS radio which kept him up to date on current events. He was a longtime communicant at the Church of St. Mary Star of the Sea Church in Unionville. Michael leave his sister, Teresa Gilbert and her husband Benedict, of Oakville, his brother Frederick Glanovsky and his wife Anne, of Farmington and his sister-in-law Marilyn Glenn of Avon. He also leaves a special niece and her family, Barbara and Philip Cohen and their children Elliott and Hannah of Bristol and his faithful companion Vera Roccosalva, from Avery Heights. Michael was predeceased by his sisters Anna Glanovsky, Mary Reichler, Elizabeth Neske, Brothers Andrew Glanovsky, Albert Glenn, Edward Glanovsky and many nieces and nephews. Michael’s family would like to give special thanks to the entire staff at Avery Heights who made the last nine years of his life at Avery a very happy one. Friends may call at The Ahern Funeral Home, 111 Main St., Rt. 4, Unionville TODAY from 6:00 – 8:00pm. Funeral procession from The Ahern Funeral Home will be Thursday (June 3) at 9:15am followed by the Funeral Liturgy in the Church of St. Mary Star of the Sea, Unionville at 10:00am. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Avon.
